The Global Chairman of the World Assemblies of God Fellowship (WAGF), Rev. Dominic Yeo, led a delegation to pay a courtesy call on the Controller-General of Immigration, Mr. Basintale Amadu, and the leadership of the Ghana Immigration Service.

The delegation included Rev. Stephen Wengam, General Superintendent of Assemblies of God, Ghana, and Chairman of the Governing Council of the Ghana Immigration Service; Rev. Andrews Awintia, Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee; Mrs. Chin-Inn Yeo, wife of the Global Chairman; Rev. Ernest Agyei; and Rev. Emmanuel Bawa.

The visit aimed to officially inform the Service of the upcoming World Congress of the WAGF, scheduled for 14th to 16th October 2026 in Accra, and to seek the support and collaboration of the Ghana Immigration Service. Rev. Yeo congratulated the Controller-General on his elevation and explained that the Congress, held every three years, rotates among nations. He noted that this will be the first time the event is hosted in Africa, specifically Ghana, chosen for its strong democratic credentials, stability, peace, and renowned hospitality. He added that the Congress is expected to boost tourism and attract investors.

Rev. Wengam commended the professionalism of the Immigration Service and appealed to the global body for logistical support for this critical institution. He highlighted that the Assemblies of God Church is 110 years old globally and has a membership of 89.9 million, making it the largest Protestant denomination in the world.

In response, the Controller-General shared that he is a member of the church and assured the delegation of the Service’s full cooperation. He commended the Assemblies of God for its significant investment in missions and national development.

The Controller-General also presented a plaque of honour to the Global Chairman to mark the occasion of his historic visit to the headquarters of the Ghana Immigration Service.
