The General Superintendent of Assemblies of God, Ghana, Rev Stephen Wengam has called on pastors and church leaders to demonstrate radical faith and confront the giant problems bedeviling the church. Drawing faith lessons from the encounter between David and Goliath in 1 Sam 17 he challenged pastors to emulate the fiery faith of David which enabled him to dare to defeat Goliath the arch enemy of Israel. In recent times we are confronted with issues like ignorance, wrong doctrines, carnality, corruption and materialism which we must defeat with a sense of urgency.

He was speaking at the final day of the 2026 Regional Council meeting of the Ashanti East Region of Assemblies of God, Ghana which was held at Lighthouse Assembly of God, Kumasi. In addition Rev Wengam officiated a Communion service. He emphasized that we don’t partake in communion for miracles and blessings as it’s being in recent times. The General Superintendent mentioned that the scriptures reveal that we observe communion service to remember Christ’s death and prepare for his second coming. If we do this faithfully he asserted the blessings will follow.

The Regional Superintendent, Rev Emanuel Gyasi extended the appreciation of the Regional council to the General Superintendent for visiting and serving as the speaker for the council meeting. He presented an award of significant achievement to Rev Wengam for being a transformational leader.
