The General Superintendent of Assemblies of God Ghana, Rev. Stephen Wengam, together with his wife, has sponsored the construction of a legacy temple for Paknatik Central Assembly of God in the North East Region of Ghana. They also donated 300 brand-new plastic chairs and musical equipment to support the local church.
According to Rev. Wengam, the temple was built in fulfillment of a request made by his late mother, Madam Deborah Wengam, before her passing in October 2024. Paknatik is the paternal hometown of Rev. Wengam. While the local church contributed 15% of the total cost, Rev. Wengam and his wife covered the remaining 85%.
The newly built temple, with a seating capacity of 350, has been named the Rev. Elijah Namyela Panka Temple in honour of the first indigenous General Superintendent of the Church, who initiated the establishment of the Paknatik church in the 1960s.
Rev. Wengam encouraged pastors and church members to emulate this example by helping provide decent places of worship for congregations in rural and deprived communities. With this project, the couple has now sponsored five legacy temples, with a sixth currently under construction.
