On Friday, 14th November 2025, the Global Chairman of the World Assemblies of God Fellowship, the largest Protestant denomination globally, Rev. Dominic Yeo, officially launched the 2026 World Congress at the Lancaster Hotel in Accra, Ghana. The Congress is scheduled to take place in Accra from 14th to 16th October 2026.
Rev. Yeo was supported by Rev. Stephen Wengam, Local Congress Host and General Superintendent of Assemblies of God, Ghana; Rev. Ben Sodji Gossou, Chairman of the West Africa Assemblies of God Alliance and General Superintendent of the Benin Assemblies of God; and Rev. Lipenga Banda, General Superintendent of the Zambia Assemblies of God.

In his remarks, Rev. Wengam assured the audience that the Ghana church is preparing diligently to host this historic event, the first time it is being held in Africa. He noted that top event professionals have been appointed to the planning committee to ensure a world-class experience and promised delegates the very best of Ghanaian hospitality. He further announced that the global membership of the Assemblies of God now stands at 89.9 million, making it the largest Protestant denomination in the world.
Delivering his inaugural address, Rev. Yeo unveiled the theme for the Congress: Commissioned: One Mandate, Every Nation (Matthew 28:18–20). He emphasized that the event will highlight the MM33 Mandate of planting 1 million churches by 2033 in commemoration of the 2000th anniversary of the ascension of Jesus Christ. He added that morning sessions will feature conference discussions on key aspects of the theme, while evening sessions will be held as major revival rallies at the Accra Sports Stadium. Rev. Yeo also noted that the Congress will boost Ghana’s tourism sector and attract foreign investment, commending the nation for its stability and peace.
The Special Guest of Honour, Deacon Eric Kutortse, Chairman of First Sky Group, urged the Ghanaian business community to support the Congress and strategically position themselves to benefit from the global participation the event will attract.
