The Chief of Staff of the Ghana Armed Forces, Air Vice Marshal Joshua J.L. Mensah-Larkai, has led a delegation of senior military officers to pay a courtesy call on the General Superintendent of Assemblies of God, Ghana, Rev. Stephen Wengam.

The delegation included Brigadier General E.K. Commey, Military Secretary of the Ghana Armed Forces; Colonel Antwi Awuah Darkwah, Deputy Commander of the Army Special Operations Brigade; and Colonel Anthony Amoako, Director of Defence Civilian Staff at the Army Headquarters. The officers, who are members of the church, paid the visit to strengthen ties between the military leadership and the church.
Focus on World Congress, Church Growth. Discussions centred on the upcoming World Congress of the World Assemblies of God Fellowship, scheduled to take place in Accra from 14 to 16 October 2026. The global gathering is expected to attract delegates from across the world.

The meeting also addressed security considerations for the event and the broader vision of the church’s Executive Presbytery, known as the “Transformation Agenda.” A key pillar of the agenda is intensified evangelisation efforts across Ghana.

Legacy Temple Project
Rev. Wengam outlined one of the church’s flagship initiatives, the “Legacy Temple Project,” which seeks to eliminate worship in what he described as deplorable conditions. The project calls on individuals and institutions to sponsor the construction of church buildings for rural congregations.

Pledge of Support
In response, Air Vice Marshal Mensah-Larkai pledged a donation of GH¢20,000 on behalf of the delegation towards the construction of a Legacy Temple.
He further indicated that efforts are underway to identify senior officers within the Ghana Armed Forces who are members of Assemblies of God, Ghana, with the aim of mobilising support for the church’s growth and development initiatives.

Rev. Wengam expressed appreciation for the visit and encouraged the officers to exemplify Christian values in their professional duties. He also appealed for their continued support towards the successful hosting of the 2026 World Congress. The meeting concluded with prayers for the delegation and the presentation of souvenirs to the visiting officers.
