

The Vice Chairman of the Africa Assemblies of God Alliance, Rev. Stephen Wengam, has urged women leaders across the continent to prioritize soul winning and champion aggressive church planting as the World Assemblies of God Fellowship pursues MM33 — the planting of one million churches by 2033, in commemoration of the 2000th year of Christ’s ascension. He encouraged participants to adopt creative strategies to win souls for Christ.
He made these remarks at the opening ceremony of the maiden Africa Women Leaders Conference, taking place from 24th–27th November 2025 at the Pentecost Convention Centre, Gomoa Fetteh. The event is hosted by the Women Commission of the Africa Assemblies of God Alliance.
This historic gathering brings together delegates from 20 African countries, including Cameroon, Togo, DR Congo, Tanzania, Equatorial Guinea, Côte d’Ivoire, Niger, Gabon, Guinea Conakry, Burkina Faso, Liberia, South Africa, Burundi, the Republic of Congo, Malawi, Uganda, Benin, Ethiopia, Botswana, and the host nation, Ghana. The conference is also graced by the wives of seven General Superintendents across the continent.
The Special Guest of Honour, Hon. Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, commended the women leaders for their dedication to Christ and encouraged them to continue aspiring to greater leadership in service to their nations and generation.
In her welcome address, Pastor Faraja Songela, President of the Women Commission, reiterated the mission of mobilizing women for missions, discipleship, networking, and equipping for Kingdom advancement. She further revealed that the commission has provided scholarships for women pursuing theological education. Rev. Mrs. Gladys Abu Baba, Vice President of the Women Commission and Chairperson of the Local Organizing Committee, assured all participants of Ghana’s warm hospitality.
