The General Superintendent of Assemblies of God, Ghana, Rev. Stephen Wengam, and his wife, Lady Mrs. Monica Wengam, have undertaken the fourth Apostolic Visit to the South Western Region of the Church. The gathering, held at the Word of Life Assemblies of God in Takoradi, brought together serving pastors and their spouses, retired ministers and their spouses, as well as pastors’ widows for a time of fervent prayer, spiritual impartation, fellowship, and biblical instruction.

The Regional Superintendent, Rev. Noble Brister, warmly welcomed Rev. Wengam and his wife and highlighted the remarkable impact of the Apostolic Visit initiative introduced by the General Superintendent following his assumption of office in 2022. He noted that the initiative has brought renewed passion for prayer, unprecedented unity among pastors, improved welfare for ministers, stronger ministerial marriages, and greater encouragement for church leaders. He commended Rev. Wengam for his visionary, compassionate, and people-centred leadership.

Four Hours of Intense Prayer

Rev. Wengam led participants in an intensive four-hour prayer session, interceding for the Church, the nation, the upcoming World Assemblies of God Fellowship Congress, and the 32nd Biennial General Council Meeting. He challenged pastors to emulate the unwavering faith of the early Church, remain steadfast in their calling, prioritise church planting, and cultivate lives of prayer and spiritual discipline.

Presentation of Welfare Gifts

The National President of the Ministers’ Wives Association, Lady Mrs. Monica Wengam, expressed her appreciation to pastors’ wives for their commitment and active participation in the association’s activities. She encouraged them to remain faithful to their God-given calling and continue supporting their husbands in ministry.

As part of the welfare initiative, she presented gifts to serving pastors, cloth to their spouses, and cash and cloth gifts to retired ministers’ wives and pastors’ widows. Retired ministers also received cash gifts and other items.

Lady Mrs. Wengam explained that the initiative is personally sponsored by herself and the General Superintendent as an expression of their love and commitment to supporting pastors and their families, particularly those facing various challenges. She described it as their modest contribution to caring for God’s servants.

Renewal of Marriage Vows

One of the highlights of the visit was the renewal of marriage vows, led by Rev. Wengam. He encouraged pastors and their wives to continue modelling Christ-centred marriages that serve as examples to the Church and society.

Holy Communion

Another significant feature of this year’s Apostolic Visit was the administration of Holy Communion, providing participants with an opportunity for spiritual reflection, renewal, and recommitment to Christ.

Many participants described the fourth Apostolic Visit to the South Western Region as one of the most impactful editions since the initiative began, expressing gratitude for the spiritual renewal, practical encouragement, and genuine care demonstrated throughout the gathering.
